I was surprised when i read that Dr. Flints daughter, Emily Flint, was still after Linda. She even had people come after her, and look for her at the places she stayed at. Another thing that surprised me was when Mrs. Bruce offered to purchase Linda's freedom, and Linda said no. After all the pain and suffering Linda faced throughout slavery, and the terrible conditions she had to go through in hiding, and even after feeling what its like to be free, she still refused to have her freedom purchased for her. But Mrs. Bruce had done it anyways.
